The family of a French flight attendant who perished in the June 1 Air France flight plane crash off the coast of Brazil is the second to seek legal action against the airline. The Airbus 330 was flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris when it plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 228 people on board and making it the deadliest accident in the French airline's history.
The attorney for the flight attendant's family is seeking to have Air France placed under formal investigation before the company meets with the families of the victims for the fourth time on Sept. 24. The family wants answers as to what caused the plane crash.
Investigators suspect faulty speed sensor readings are a factor, but doubt it they were the only cause of the plane crash. On July 31, Air France said it would replace some of the sensors of its A330s and A340s.
The search for the flight recorders has been stopped by the French submarines and the wreckage has not been located.
